Get a quarter pounder…cookie. At Sanford bakery Millie’s Mama Bakes, indulge in six different flavors of giant cookies. Five flavors rotate every Monday and chocolate chip is a constant. You’ll also see four rotating flavors of macarons.
Owner, Jessica Nelson says, “There’s been a huge population boom in Sanford. It’s been cool to get on the map a bit.” “We’ve seen people taking day trips from Raleigh and Apex to visit Sanford,” says employee Michelle Walker.
The shop was named for Jessica’s daughter, Millie. “She’s the reason we do it,” she says.
Another fun shop feature is the pay it forward wall where you can buy someone a cookie so they’ll see it next time they come in. Or you can leave it to a stranger and the staff will use their discretion and bake someone’s day.
Stop in Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until they sell out for the day. Stay up to date for what’s in store via Instagram.
