January programs at Discovery Place Kids in Rockingham will help them explore the science of winter — without frostbite.

:: Saturdays, 11:15 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. Sundays, 2:15 p.m. 
Jan. 13-14: Explore snow, ice and states of matter.
Jan. 20-21: Let your little engineers build an igloo to keep out the cold.
Jan. 27-28: Experiment (safely) with liquid nitrogen and watch it reach -320 degrees.

:: Daily programming (11:15 a.m. and 2:15 p.m.)
Tuesdays and Thursdays:
Enjoy story time and hands-on activities about animal fur and hibernation.
Wednesdays and Fridays:
Investigate polar animals who have evolved to survive in deep cold.
Every day:
Enjoy a dance party at 11:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m.

Discovery Place Kids is an easy drive from Moore County, and the center is open until 8 p.m. on Tuesdays. Admission is $8. Visit and see why it’s earned hundreds of 5-star reviews.
