Sharing is Caring
The Southern Pines Public Library plans to transform its free library boxes into community carestations for a week this May, but it is looking for volunteers and sponsors to help keep them stocked. The initiative debuted in November, when the five boxes maintained by the library were converted to community care stations containing hygiene products such as toothpaste, deodorant, soap and nonperishables like canned food.

“We found that we couldn’t keep the boxes stocked,” says librarian Mary Howard. “We were really kind of feeling the weight of that.” The goal is for the stations to be even more successful this time around. The takeover week is planned for May 12-18. To get involved, email mhoward@sppl.net.
