Pony Up

If their dream party includes a pony, you can make it a reality with Valkyrie Sporthorses, near the Hoke County line. Valkyrie has been in operation for around 10 years and offers training for competitive riding. Now they are expanding into events, specifically for birthday parties on Saturdays. Ages 3 to 99 are welcome, even kids and adults who have never been on a horse. If we live to 99, we are definitely opting for a pony party. 

How’s it work? A mane event space can be as basic or as extra as you’d like, and kids will interact with a star pony named Prince Charles the Unicorn. You can even opt for a horn and sparky hoof polish. “He’s very fluffy and he loves the kids,” says event coordinator Michelle Elwood.

“We hope maybe it spurs them to take a lesson or two, or at the least it gives them a chance to interact with a pony,” says Valkyrie Sporthorses owner Whitney Weston.
