This summer we’re prioritizing the group hangout. The internet is dubbing the idea Sitcom Summer. It can include things like meeting friends for breakfast before work or using your free will to do things that big corporate wants you to think is reserved for weekends or unrealistic quirky TV shows. We compiled a list of ways to live your own sitcom summer locally.

  • If you’re going through it: Chat up someone in the produce aisle about whatever decision you’re pondering in life. Trauma dumping to a good old fashioned stranger is the best way to get clarity according to Hollywood.
  • For when it’s time to take things to the next level: Introduce your situationship to the friend group over coffee at Nova Vita.
  • When it’s time for a workout montage: Try out your ridiculous new pair of shoes that are designed to make you “faster” at Reservoir Park. Hint, they don’t.
  • If you’re tired of being single: Bring a friend and roam through new and used golf gear at Robert’s Golf Shop as part of your master plan to pick up men on the golf course.
  • For when you need a grand gesture: Go to line dancing with Boots & Buckles to win back your ex, showing that you are in fact, fun and spontaneous.
  • For when you need a filler episode: Grab a slice from So Pies and eat it while reading an obnoxiously small paperback. You know the ones.
  • For when you’re devising a not-at-all outlandish plan that the group chat would disapprove of: Learn about horse betting from an old timer over pancakes at The Track Restaurant. Is that a legal way to pay back your roommate for this month’s rent? We don’t know!
  • When you’re willing to die on that hill: Argue about an obscure fact that you totally understand better than your friend over boba from The Whale Tea.
  • If it’s someone’s birthday: Split the G at O’Donnell’s Pub while you can still remember the night.
  • For when your life serves as comedic relief for everyone except you: Get cut in line by the same kid you’ve been beefing with at The Ice Cream Parlor for months.
