Staying busy is Kelly Patterson’s jam, which is how her hobby has escalated into a full blown business over the last 12 years. She opened her first storefront in Carthage today, Monday, next to Buggy Town Coffee. At Miss Kelly’s Cupboard, you’ll find a variety of homemade jams (Miss Kelly’s Jellies) and snack mixes along with Miss Kelly’s Cookin’, her spinoff brand featuring grab-and-heat meals, and The Hubs Rubs, another spinoff created by her husband.

Until now, Kelly has primarily sold at the Moore County Farmers Market, but don’t worry, she plans to continue those as long as it’s sustainable. After all, she credits the markets to the most of her growth.

A place of her own means she has more control over quantity and additional offerings, which excites her. Conveniently, her kitchen is right next door, so you’ll like see Kelly in and out. Turns out, jams are berry time consuming. Her all-time bestseller is the Christmas Jam. “I can’t keep it in stock. For six weeks it’s all I make,” she says. Also in store are other local brands like The Mindful Mug coffee, Dees Bees honey and Moore Popcorn.

“I’m very grateful that people choose to spend their money with me, whether it’s a Christmas gift or their kid’s lunch,” says Kelly. Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, but they could adjust in the future. Stop by Miss Kelly’s Cupboard for the grand opening this Wednesday, Aug. 26 for shopping and giveaways starting at 11:30 a.m. Call it a jam session.
