In case you haven’t seen the sign that’s been taunting all of us, the former Felipe’s Wey in Southern Pines is finally being put to use — as Órale Taco Bar. After casually stalking the restaurant for some time, we finally found someone inside and are ready to spill the refried beans.
Like Felipe’s Wey, Órale will be another venture from the owners of San Felipe, and will feature a walk-up, order and pay model for quick service. Unlike at Felipe’s Wey, the focus will be on tacos — and according to Manager Manuel Vega, there will also be beer on the menu.
Vega, who also manages San Felipe’s Sanford location, says the owners are working hard to update the interior and acquire needed licenses. There’s no set date for opening, but we’re hoping the menu will be spec-taco-lar. We’re sorry.
