Love Rose boutique had its grand opening in the Belvedere Plaza on July 9. It displays an abundance of its signature color, pink. It began as an online boutique between Sandra and Mclendyn Weathersby, a mother-daughter duo.

You may recognize the boutique from local pop up events as well, which they began doing last year. Pop-ups are something the duo plans to continue while expanding to places like Charlotte. In-store you’ll find trendy tops, dresses, shoes, hats and other accessories. You can also shop online.

Love Rose basically swapped places with Rosie & Rad, the previous tenant of the space who decided to switch to an online only boutique. Sandra and Mclendyn pulled the store together in a matter of weeks. What? Like it’s hard? These ladies definitely made it look easy.

Sandra and Mclendyn both grew up in Moore County and love shopping in downtown Southern Pines. “This is something we’ve always wanted to do,” says Sandra, “We’ve always loved clothes.”

“Meeting new people all the time is what’s really cool about it all,” says Mclendyn. She recently graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in business management. Her intention was to continue building the boutique.

So where did the name come from? Other than just really enjoying rosie hues, the name has sentimental value to the duo as well. They chose Love Rose to honor Sandra’s mother (Mclendyn’s granny), Rose, who passed unexpectedly last year.

If you want to spend and snap, the shop is open Wednesday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Find it at 124 W Pennsylvania Ave., Southern Pines.
