We Got Spirit, How ‘Bout You?

Meet Christina Boucher Reynolds, an artist that rocks. Christina is the woman behind Will-A-Way Studio. She specializes in murals and spirit rocks, because there really is a job for everything. How does one get into that? Christina says, “One of my friends who’s followed along with my art asked me to paint a spirit rock for her kid’s birthday, and I realized how much of a thing it was.” Now she doesn’t take the rocks for granite and is open for commissions.

As you can imagine, painting spirit rocks is a lot different than painting a wall mural. For starters there’s a lot of texture, but it’s also outside, so spray paint is often the first step before using a brush. “By its nature, it’s a very temporary thing most schools have up for a week,” says Christina. “It’s a very different approach than murals, it’s more playful.”

Christina tells us many spirit rocks in the county are used as PTA fundraisers. Parents can adopt the rock for birthday messages, events and more. “I’m all for public art. The spirit rock is a very low-barrier-to-entry type of public art.”

Christina doesn’t have a niche when it comes to style, nor does she want to. “I’ve always been a creative type of person,” she says, “I’ve done a little of everything, which is kind of how I do things in my life in general.” Of quartz, we should mention that Christina is also well known in the equestrian community and owns her own equine nutrition company. Like a true jack of all trades, painting is basically her side hustle. Ready for Christina to rock on? Send her an email.
