Because You Give a Ruck

Monday, May 25, 9 a.m.: Weigh in for the annual Ruck Up for the Regiment, benefitting Special Forces Charitable Trust. Last year 1,795 pounds were carried in remembrance. The challenge begins at Workhorse Strength & Conditioning and is open to all ages to walk, run or roll. Sign up here.
MORE WAYS TO HONOR:
- Wednesday, May 20, 6-8 p.m.: Veterans can strum along during Guitars for Vets happening at Red’s Corner. Strike a chord.
- Friday, May 22: Participate in Southern Pines CrossFit’s 11th annual MURPH. No memberships are required. Heats are every 90 minutes and childcare is available from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sweat it out.
- Saturday, May 23, 8:30 a.m.: Participate in CrossFit 611’s MURPH. All are welcome.
- Saturday, May 23, 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m.: Crossfit Baile in Whispering Pines hosts a MURPH with multiple heats. Sweat it out.
- Saturday, May 23, 11 a.m.: The Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter No. 966 will host the annual Memorial Day Wreath ceremony, open to the public. Because of the brave.
- Saturday, May 23, 3-6:30 p.m.: Move for Mission 22 duringRailhouse Brewery’s first Brewery Battle Royale Tug-of-War Tournament. A team entry is $35 and includes one beer per person. Teams must consist of four men and one woman. Sign up.
- Sunday, May 24, 4-7 p.m.: Guitar 4 Vets will be playing at James Creek Cider House. Tune in.
- Monday, May 25, 9 a.m. or 10 a.m.: Join Iron & Pine CrossFit as they honor Lt. Michael P. Murphy and all who have served with a Memorial Day MURPH, open to the community. Train with purpose.
- Monday, May 25, 1 p.m.: Gather for the annual Memorial Day Roll Call at Railhouse Brewery. The reading begins at 2 p.m., so arrive early to be respectful of the ceremony. Honor the fallen.
- Monday May 25: Join BHAWK for live music, drink specials, BBQ and more at a place whose entire mission is honoring service members. Raise a glass.
