The popular fitness franchise Orangetheory is coming to the Center Park Shopping Center in Southern Pines (near Harris Teeter) this fall. You’ve probably seen orange bikes around town, a viral marketing tactic to generate buzz about the opening.
The Theory: Orangetheory supplies a heart monitor that you wear while you try not to die on a cardio machine. Everyone’s heart rate is then displayed on a giant screen. The goal is to stay in what the franchise calls the “orange zone” — which is your target heart rate zone — for at least 12 minutes. This is also supposed to increase your chances of burning calories for up to 36 hours after your workout.
Why is This a Big Deal? Orangetheory is mostly found in larger areas like Raleigh, Greensboro and Charlotte. Lindsey Baranko, Orangetheory’s development manager for Southeastern North Carolina, said the franchise chose to open a location Southern Pines because of its rapidly-growing population.
What’s the Cost? It varies, but unlimited classes will run you more than $100/month.
What to Do Now: Find out how to get intro rates during a kickoff event from 5-7:30 p.m. on July 10 at the Pinehurst Country Club. Call 910-745-7996 or email studio1304@orangetheoryfitness.com to RSVP.
