Kitten Around Cat Lounge, a place in Carthage where you can come hang out, get a coffee and play with new feline friends, has helped 52 adult cats and kittens find new homes since opening in March. That seems like paws for celebration to us.

“The goal is 100 adoptions by the end of my first year. I figure it’ll get busier in the cold months since it’s an indoor activity,” says owner Denna Schreiner.
- What else is new? The previous 5 and up age limit has been lifted; it’s now open Wednesday through Saturday to visitors of all ages who are gentle with cats. Get a time slot here.
- What’s not new? You still can’t bring your cat for a playdate. Yes, people are still asking. Book a 30-min or hour-long time online, or do a walk-in — you can adopt on the spot, but don’t have to.

Denna says she has people regularly drive from an hour away for a time slot. In Carthage, that’s likely only also true for those who have a court date.
