Purrfect Portraits
Meet Avery Ferree, an artist and animal lover who also works at Kitten Around Cat Lounge. Avery has been an artist as long as she can remember, more recently perfecting her craft to sell custom pet portraits. But these portraits don’t just come on canvas (unless of course you want that). You can get it made on a wooden ornament or on recycled vinyl.
Avery says her grandma was a music lover and has a whole shed full of records. “A lot of them have been scratched or damaged and I didn’t want them to go to waste, so I started painting on them,” says Avery. “I love to give them new life.”
While her background and future aspirations aren’t focused solely on pet portraits, Avery gets plenty of inspiration from Kitten Around — she previously focused on human portraits and surrealism. She is currently working on a fine arts degree from Sandhills Community College and her goal for the bigger picture is to get into bigger pictures, like murals.
