Rumor Has It

Local musician Scarlet Tantrum is releasing her first EP called “Rumors” which tells the artist’s story of self-growth, depression and finding her voice. It comes out on all streaming platforms July 17. There are seven tracks on the EP, some of which are brand new. “It’s my first big project. There’s just been a lot of time put into it and it’s nerve-wracking and exciting all at once,” says Scarlet. Scarlet Tantrum, if you don’t know, is a stage name More on that here.

Her favorite track on the upcoming EP is the title song, “Rumors.” While much of her music blends dark pop and alternative rock, she says this track feels like her truest self: “This is who I am.”

“Rumors” is the EP’s most rock-driven and experimental song. “It’s a very bold and confrontational song,” she adds.

“Music is my therapy and it’s helped me get through a lot and find my voice. I hope that some of those songs or the whole EP can help somebody find their voice too,” says Scarlet.

To celebrate, Scarlet is hosting a free release party concert at the West Southern Pines Cultural Arts Center this Friday, July 17, 7-9 p.m. The show will kick off with local band Hors, followed by Lauren Nicole from Raleigh. Attendees can expect a photo-op area, $5 raffle tickets and new merch. Rock on.
