Afternoons spent at Pinehurst Resort’s Thistle Dhu and playing friendly rounds with family led local business owner Carrie Foster to create her idea for Sit! Ball Markers. Carrie started the company in April 2024 to fill a gap in Pinehurst souvenirs and to offer a ball marker designed for women and kids that doesn’t scream “stolen from Grandpa’s golf bag.”
“How crazy it is that we live in this tourist town that doesn’t have a ton of the typical souvenirs that you see?” she said. “Compare it to a tourist town like Destin, Florida, where you can walk down the street and find a souvenir shop everywhere.”
The distinctive designs feature classic Pinehurst icons, bows and cheeky sayings. Her company also lets you put your own spin on ball markers — perfect for business events, charity tournaments or just playing it up with unique party favors. Her complete inventory is only available online, but some designs can be found at local retailers like Bump and Baby, Ikonic Kollection, Eloise Trading Company and Against the Grain Shoppe.
Alongside her quippy ball markers, Carrie hopes to begin making hats a prominent part of her business model. She already sells hat clips that double as ball marker holders and accessories. While her dream is to eventually have a presence inside a U.S. Open merchandise tent, she is trying to make an impact in the community by providing opportunities for women to explore the game of golf.
