Sweet Carolina Ice Cream in Aberdeen is quickly becoming known for fun treats, like a waffle cone filled with soft serve, crushed Oreos, Fruity Pebbles and rainbow sprinkles. But because the shop’s owners hail from New Jersey, they call sprinkles Jimmies. And “Rainbow Jimmies” just sounds … wrong.
Anyway, Sweet Carolina has packed more than 20 flavors (sourced from U.S. Foods) into the circa-1919, alley-sized shop at 108 W. Main Street. Part-owner Tony Monte has been working with a team of partners since September to strip the space down to its bones and fill it full of pop-culture memorabilia.
There are no tables inside, but it’s not like you don’t need to take a walk while shoveling in spoonfuls of Mint Chocolate Chip Brownie Extreme. Fill your cone from 11-8 Monday through Saturday, and 11-6 on Sundays.
