We’re Ready to Go Clubbing

If your karaoke skills have never impressed a date, you’ll soon have a new nightlife option to take a swing at. A local foursome is opening Double Eagle, an indoor virtual golf lounge equipped with the tech to up your game.

Owners Cory and Emily White and Roger and Barbara Powell became “even more obsessed with” golf during COVID. More recently, they started to look for alternatives to 300% humidity.

“We were out on the greens all the time, and there were moments where it was pouring down rain or extra hot, and we were like, ‘something’s missing,'” Emily says. “In ‘Golf Town USA,’ it doesn’t make sense to not have something like this here to supplement your game.”

Double Eagle could open as soon as this fall at 208 Brucewood Road, in the Kohl’s shopping center in Southern Pines.

The plan calls for four bays that can accomodate eight people each. Players can bring their own clubs or rent some on site, and compete by hitting golf balls toward simulated targets or renderings of real courses projected onto a screen.

Table service will include craft cocktails and mocktails, and you’ll be able to order snacks or bring in your own food. While it could be open as late as midnight, Emily thinks it has potential to be a serious training tool during the day, too.
