The Sandhills Spay Neuter Veterinary Clinic is participating in Alley Cat Rescue Inc.’s Feral Fix Challenge, offering services at a lower cost with a goal to reach 1,000 spay/neuters for feral cats this year. In the challenge, veterinarians are encouraged to work with local rescues and trap, neuter and release programs (like those through the Moore Humane Society and Feline Friends of Moore County) to reach populations of feral or community cats.

“The challenge really is to tackle as many feral cats as possible,” said Erin Maurer, manager of the Vass practice. “I don’t think everyone knows the extent of overpopulation in the area and how it contributes to euthanasia rates.”

The feral fix program includes a spay/neuter surgery and rabies vaccine for $40 (donations toward the cause are always accepted). The clinic is open Monday through Thursday. Learn more here or call (910) 725-8188.
