He’s Seen Every Classic, He Knows Every Line

If you’re still preoccupied with 1985, here is where you can grab everything you need to flex on ’em. What is Liminal Space? Other than the name of the newest luxury vintage streetwear shop in downtown Aberdeen, “liminal space is the transitional space between two things,” says owner Philip Peterson III. “It’s that in-between when you’re not quite where you want to be yet.”His hope for the shop is that it gets him out of his purgatory and puts him where he wants to be in life.

Philip began collecting sneakers and apparel at age 14. He always wanted a business of some sort since he grew up with parents that both had their own businesses. He decided he wanted to turn his hobby into a job.

Philip says the hobby all started with a pair of weatherman foamposits, a shoe he got for his fourteenth birthday. “I was so excited, I thought there was no way I’d get them,” he says. Ever since then, he has scoured the internet and thrift stores for iconic shirts and jerseys, limited edition shoes, and collectibles that bring a sense of nostalgia. His favorite finds are shirts from iconic sporting events.

The shop will carry apparel, shoes and accessories from luxury brands such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and more. “More people are getting into fashion these days,” says Philip, “I think there’s a market for it everywhere and I’m excited to bring it here.”

Hearing people say ‘I remember this from when I was a kid’ is one of my favorite things,” says Philip. And in case you weren’t feeling old, the shop carries early 2000s merch as well… because apparently thats vintage now.

The grand opening will be Saturday, June 4, and the shop will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Find it at 112 N Poplar St., Aberdeen. Until then, follow it on instagram.
