We Wish You Wood
Oh wait — they are. The NC Division of Parks and Recreation recently received $3.25 million from the North Carolina Land and Water Fund to expand Weymouth Woods Sandhills Nature Preserve in southern Moore County.

The land hasn’t formally been acquired yet, but Kris Anne Bonifacio, public information officer for North Carolina State Parks, said the grant is to acquire a little over 300 acres near the Paint Hill Tract of Weymouth Woods Sandhills Nature Preserve. The land will be mostly used for passive recreation, like hiking toward the sound of a golden-winged warbler. Don’t worry, you’ll be at that age soon enough. Good news for nature lovers.
