As You Wish

If you’re new here, you may not be aware that Andre Roussimoff called the Sandhills home. Better known around the world as “Andre the Giant,” he was a pro wrestler and starred in the cult classic “The Princess Bride.” At his peak, he stood over 7 feet tall, which makes most of us look like we’re still waiting to hit our growth spurt. Though he died in 1993, he left a giant footprint on the state and will soon be recognized with a historic marker at the intersection of N.C. 73 and Old N.C. 220, in Ellerbe.
