Graze Expectations

A new indoor food hall is coming to Aberdeen. No, not that one. This one will be located behind Planet Fitness at 155 Atrium St. and is a product of NDB Commercial Real Estate, based out of Raleigh. The name is still in the works (“food rodeo” is clearly a placeholder) but it could be called “The Atrium,” since Atrium Street runs next to it. José Sanchez said he and his business partner, Daniel Brown, have worked on developments around the state and have been tossing around the idea for a while. NDB developed the rest of the plaza including the Planet Fitness and Dollar Tree.

José says the hall will be about 20,000 square feet with a bar (potentially two) and a handful of food vendors — “we want to have good spots, not just fill it out.” Talks are in the works with local businesses as well. Plans include outdoor seating, a dog area and playground. There could even be an area for live music outside. “We want to make it attractive.”

NDB specializes in shopping centers, so this food hall is the company’s first, eh, rodeo. “It’s a great spot because there’s a ton of parking,” says José. “We know there’s another food hall coming but we’re not trying to compete with anyone.”

But wait isn’t that area prone to flooding? Well, it can be but Jose says they are working with architects and installing drains to fix the issue before they build.

The company is still looking to fill out the hall with food vendors. Those interested can shoot Jose an email at jsanchez@ndbcommercial.com. They are aiming for a May groundbreaking and hoping to open by November.
