Customers began lining up outside of the doors almost a half hour before the shop opened at 11 a.m. on Friday.

Berri Bowlful, a açai berry food truck with a devoted following, recently opened their first brick-and-mortar at 215 W. Pennsylvania Ave in Southern Pines. The location used to house Southern Pines Growler Co.’s retail space and bottle shop.

Owner Bianca Pellicione, a native of Brazil, has had a brick-and-mortar in mind since rolling Berri Bowlful onto the scene in September 2017. The pandemic, among other things, delayed their opening, but the customers started rolling in last Friday.

“Everything happens for a reason,” Bianca said. “We’re just excited to finally be open now.”

Limited indoor seating is available inside right now, but patrons are welcome to sit on the patio outside.

The Berri Bowlful food truck isn’t going anywhere. Bianca and her husband still plan to keep the açai flowing on four wheels.

The new spot is equipped with a sanitizing station. Markers on the floor indicate where customers should stand in line to maintain social distancing.

“We feel so blessed to open our doors during a time like this,” Bianca said. “It’s weird getting used to having this much space after just being in a truck, but we’re very grateful.

Current hours are 10-5 Tuesday through Saturday and 10-3 on Sunday. Hours are set to change next week to Tuesday through Friday from 10-7, Saturday from 9-6 and Sunday from 9-4.

“The endless support & love from our community these past 3 years has been more than we could have ever imagined,” she said.
