When Nicole Johnson opened Fanatical Skin & Ink one year ago, she embarked on a journey filled with surprises. Nicole started her day spa and permanent makeup boutique in Southern Pines with the goal of taking care of her existing clients but has clearly surpassed her goal.
Fanatical Skin & Ink is a multi-faceted business, offering a variety of specialized services that focus on aesthetic and corrective skin care services. These include lash and brow, skin rejuvenation, professional peels, skincare products, microblading, and other paramedical permanent cosmetics.
“This business grew really fast,” Nicole says.”
Fanatical Skin & Ink now provides services for 200 or more guests per month.
According to Nicole, opening a business of any kind takes tenacity and stamina, but she balances that with fun. While she didn’t expect the anxiety and doubt that accompany starting a new journey, Nicole credits her existing and new clients for their endless support.
This warm and fun-loving personality brings clients from all over the United States who are willing to travel for the one-of-a-kind atmosphere that she provides.
“That’s been the biggest highlight of my business — how passionate they are and how eager they are to watch me succeed,” Nicole says.
As a “thank you” to her clients, Nicole recently hosted a birthday party for Fanatical Skin & Ink at The Leadmine. She also offered specials throughout the month of February.
Moving forward into her next year of business, Nicole says she’s more relaxed.
“I have more of a plan this time. Last year was pretty intense,” she laughs.
Nicole offers training courses for aspiring permanent makeup and medical tattoo artists. In the coming years, Nicole wants to grow that facet of her business to form a full-on training academy.
But for now, Nicole says she’ll continue to cultivate positive energy while providing her services that help women feel confident.
“Everyone loves to come in here,” Nicole says. “That’s what I want to continue. I want to continue as a day spa and permanent makeup boutique where people feel comfortable.”
