Fly over to Flirty Birdie Vintage

Entrepreneur Keri Johnson wears many hats. She used to work in the media industry, she’s a graphic designer and she has owned several businesses in Moore County over the years — including one in the building that is now The Block. Now, she’s opened Flirty Birdie Vintage, a shop near Sandhills Bowling Center on N.C. 5.

“I get bored easily, so I like to start new things,” she says.

Keri has done various craft festivals over the years until it got to be too much, but her love for creating  and finding vintage goods hasn’t worn off.

“The initial idea was to get a storage facility because my husband said I had too much stuff,” says Keri, “but then we saw the storefront open and decided to go for another store again.”

Much of what the store sells is from artists Keri met during her years of craft shows. She also seeks out fair trade items from other countries in an effort to support those in search of a better life.

Keri describes her new store as, “Gypsy Vintage.” The store sells virtually everything you see: from the wall art to the furniture and the piano. You’ll find fun gift wrap, cards, bags, decor, items for your pets, and more.

Keri’s working on a classroom at the back of the shop, where she plans to host small classes in sewing, container planting, wreath making and more. “I’ve always taken classes at Artworks Vass and it’s something I wanted to offer, too,” she says.

She also plans to give back, donating a monthly donation of store proceeds to Caring Hearts for Canines. Keri adopted her dog from the organization and has a soft spot for them. Her dog, Birdie, was the inspiration behind the store name.

Follow Flirty Birdie on Facebook to stay up to date on what else will be entering the shop. Visit at 1680 N.C. 5 Suite 130, Aberdeen. Shop from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

:: GRAND OPENING: Join Flirty Birdie for its grand opening on Feb. 11 -12, with 22 percent off everything in store plus food and prize drawings. The vintage gift shop may be new, but owner Keri Johnson is fully seasoned in the world of small business.
