A New Place to Dilly-Dally
If your serve is a pretty big dill, you’ll have a new place to relish: Moore County’s first indoor pickleball facility. Katie Carpenter and Canyn Russell have added the 10,500-square-foot, climate-controlled space dubbed The Pickle Place at their business, The Racquet Club at Seven Lakes.
Katie and Canyn installed their first outdoor pickleball courts in 2021, and have been thinking of a way to elevate the game ever since. Katie, above, says she has never seen a sport take off like this — and is inspired by the passionate pickleball community of all ages and abilities.
“To me one of the greatest things is how it has pulled people off of couches and out of homes to become very active and have this amazing community around them,” she says. The Pickle Place will also have a pro shop and a bar area serving beer and wine where players can unwind after a game.
- Play the grand opening: Celebrate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, where there’ll be free junior and adult clinics and a pro exhibition. You don’t need to live in the community to attend, but you’ll need to contact the club ahead of time for gate access. Get pickled.
