I See it, I Like It, I Want it, I Got it

Nomad Jax Haberdashery might be styled like an eclectic home, but everything is for sale — right down to the checkout counter. Owner Tom Trieloff calls his shop an upscale general store, where you’ll find leather goods, antique decor, men’s and women’s apparel, gifts and more.

“When I first moved to the area, I was designing my own house, and there wasn’t anything that fit my aesthetic in any of the places I wanted to shop,” Tom says. “The space has kind of morphed as we’ve gone along. For the most part, it’s just buying stuff that I think is cool and making it work.”

He started selling online and at Pop Up in the Pines markets last year, and had planned to become the first tenant of the under-renovation Princess Theatre in DTSP. After several construction delays, Tom instead leased a 1930s house at 455 SE Broad St., next to Gulley’s Garden Center, and designed each room with a slightly different vibe.

One room houses a workshop for custom hattery Gwen’s Hat Club; you’ll also find plants from Rooted Botanica and jewelry from Freedom Design Co. Tom hopes that eventually Nomad Jax becomes a community hangout, where people can connect over coffee or bourbon or take advantage of little desk nooks to work remotely.

  • Shop Nomad Jax’s grand opening from 10-4 on Saturday, July 15, with live music by Clark Bennett, beer from Hatchet Brewing Co., giveaways and more. Window shop here
