After 16 years of serving American and Thai food at Whispering Woods Café, owners Anthony and Toi Becke have closed that restaurant and are now serving the American portion of the menu at Central Park Ave. Bistro, in Olmsted Village. The Taylortown strip is also home to the couple’s other ventures — Thai Fusion, Southern Angel Donut Co. and Scrollicious Ice Cream.
“Running between two properties was taking too much out of us,” Anthony said, “so we decided to consolidate everything here at Olmsted. It’s a wonderful location, and the support of the community has been overwhelming.”
At the urging of Olmsted owner Marty McKenzie, the couple purchased Starfish, a short-lived restaurant that moved in after the closure of Nina’s Classic Cuisine, in April. They’ve since relocated the full bar to the front of the restaurant and expanded the kitchen.
Central Park Ave. Bistro serves up everything from eggplant parm to racks of ribs and chicken Cordon Bleu burgers, and breakfast starts with omelettes and corned beef hash as early as 7 a.m. every day. This weekend’s grand opening will be celebrated with a $4.95 Sunday brunch. Get menus and more info here.
