Runway and Rescue, a June 2 benefit for the Moore Humane Society at 305 Trackside, gave us the perfect look at summer fashion; and not even adorable puppies and donuts could distract us from the gorgeous looks we saw on and off the runway. Here are six things we learned, with the help of our local boutiques:

1. Sundresses = Instant Outfit Envy

Simplicity, comfort, and all-in-one functionality make sundresses the go-to outfit of the summer. One item = no matching, and you look instantly chic and on-trend no matter the length or pattern. Paired with espadrille wedges, this look is instant summer style success.

2. Snake Print is IN

Similar to the summer comfort of a dress, a midi length skirt is chic and still a seasonal staple. Snakeskin print was everywhere and this snakeskin print midi skirt is a showstopper.

3. Rompers Refuse to Fade And We’re OK With That

Wearing a dress on a windy day is always a calculated risk, but fear no more with a romper. Rompers came into fashion several years ago and refuse to quit but we’re not mad about it. The ease of a dress without the risk of being risqué? Sign us up.

4. Pops of Color Make a Statement.

If you haven’t heard of Kataphora, now you won’t forget. For their looks in the fashion show, Kataphora outfitted all of their models with colorful wigs. Store owner Jorden Denny is spotted here taking the catwalk by storm in violet.

5. Eve Avery Knows Sequins

In nearly head to toe sequins, this runway look from Eve Avery was, quite literally, a highlight of the event. Who knew a sequin plaid flannel could be the understated element of an outfit? When Rihanna said shine bright like a diamond, this must be what she meant.

6. And Men Dress for Comfort and Nothing More

Many a sweet man missed a Sunday on the links to join their ladies at this fashion show, and typical dude attire still prevailed. We’re not mad. Just disappointed. And we’re sorry for this poor soul, who happened to walk down the runway just in time for us to make an example out of him.
