Dough Ingredients
4 sticks unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 tbsp. Pure vanilla extract
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. Baking powder
Icing Ingredients
2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp. Vanilla or almond extract
Sprinkles & food coloring (optional)
Directions
Beat the butter and powdered sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla and mix to combine. Slowly add the baking powder and flour on low speed. Form the dough into a ball and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before rolling it out. Preheat the oven to 350 and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
On a flat surface, sprinkle a small amount of flour and roll out the dough to about .25” thickness. Cut into shapes and transfer to prepared baking sheets.
Bake for 10-12 minutes until light brown around the edges. Cool completely before icing.
Icing: Line a countertop with parchment paper. In a large bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk and extract. Add food coloring if desired.
Drop cooled cookies face down into icing. Add sprinkles while the icing is still wet. Enjoy!
