‘The Block’ Caters to All Your Food Cravings

If your ideal dinner consists of hot chicken pho with a side of fried macaroni bites and mango boba tea, then your new hot spot is now The Block.

The Southern Pines restaurant at 290 West Pennsylvania Ave. is the result of the consolidation of Bambu Boba Café and Steve’s TK Pizza & Subs into one space. Bambu, on Broad Street, and Steve’s, on Morganton Road, closed in May in preparation for the transition.

“It’s been a vision for quite some time,” says James Lam, who owns the restaurant with his wife, Keena. “We wanted to focus more on the quality of the food and experience, and just bringing everything under one roof will make that easier.”

You’ll find the full east-meets-west menu at one register. Items like Vietnamese vermicelli noodles with grilled pork and potstickers are served in shareable portions, counter-style. And, yes, they’re making good use of the building’s rotating, wood-fired pizza oven. Here’s the full menu.

After a series of soft openings, The Block is officially open. Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. For updates, follow The Block on Instagram or Facebook.
