Howlin’ For You

You don’t have to stay home to celebrate the beginning of 2024.

We have a list of happenings all day on Sunday, Dec. 31, both early and late — that way you can choose whether the dawg you’re kissing at midnight is at home or at a bar.

TO CELEBRATE EARLY:

  • 8 a.m. to noon.: Get the morning started with a latte from Amor Ciego. You’ve got a big day ahead of you.
  • 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Take your pooch to get a pup cup (and maybe something for you, too) from Swank. It reopens at 4-8 p.m. for First Eve. Tails up for the new year.
  • 1-3 p.m.: Make sure your new year is filled with green by stopping into Rhizome Houseplants for a complimentary sip and shop. Plant some good energy.
  • 3-8 p.m.: Pop a bottle at The Wine Cellar and Tasting Room. Hear live music from 5-7 p.m. Wine not?
  • 3-7 p.m.: Party in the tiniest spot there is: Standing Room Only. Grab a $4 glass of bubbles for their first day open. Woo hoo.
  • 5-9 p.m.: Reserve your spots at Table On The Green for dinner and live jazz music with Dorian and Lou. Scrumptious.
  • 5-9 p.m.: Enjoy a four-course meal at Pinecrest Inn for $45 a person. Make a reservation.
  • 5-9 p.m.: Treat yourself to a four-course meal at Villaggio Ristorante & Bar. Butter believe it.
  • 5:30-8 p.m.: Bowl like your year depends on it at Sandhills Bowling Center. Food, bowling and giveaways, all for $20. That’s a strike.
  • 6-8 p.m.: Take the whole family to First Eve in Downtown Southern Pines. There will be characters, face painting, carriage rides and more. Pinecone dropped.
  • 6-10 p.m.: Go see the last day of Wonderland of Lights at Aloha Safari Zoo. Santa won’t be there, but the kangaroo will. Don’t be roo-de.
  • 7-10 p.m.: Pregame with Railhouse Brewery and band Timeline. Enjoy music from the 70s-2000s, win prizes and free drinks. Just brew it.
  • 7:30 p.m.: Get tickets to hear The Lovesick Drifters perform live at their New Year’s Eve concert. End the year with a show.

TO RING IT IN:

  • 8 p.m. – until: Time Out Sports Grill will be having a celebration complete with dancing, champagne toasts and confetti cannons. What more could you need?
  • 8 a.m. to midnight: Listen to DJ Cide FX at 715 Bar and Grill and get some brews in honor of 2024. Let’s sip to that.
  • 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.: Laiken Love and Fellowship of Love will be performing at the Carolina Hotel. There will also be a buffet and bar. Cheers.
  • 9 p.m. to midnight: The Stone Dolls will be performing at Legends Bar and Grill. Go party for a “legendary” time. Don’t get too rowdy.
  • 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.: Enjoy live music at Dugan’s Pub or go early and enjoy $5 mimosa specials all day. Yum.
  • 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.: Ring in the new year with your pals at Rec Room. Party with a DJ, champagne toasts and photo ops. Play games, dance, indulge in beer, wine or cocktails— there will also be a $5 drink menu. Add some sparkle to the night by dressing in your nicest attire. Ring in the fun.
  • 9 p.m. – until: Party with Aftermath band at O’Donnell’s Pub. We hope you like to dance.
  • 9 p.m. – until: Join Drum & Quill as Rick Stone hosts NYE. There will be a complimentary champagne toast at midnight. #Ballin
  • 9 p.m. – until: Keep it classy with 1901 Lounge, hear live music from Autumn Nicholas and toast with champagne at midnight. Here’s to 2024.
  • 10 p.m. – 1 a.m.: Vibe on the Bell Tree Tavern patio with live music. The full kitchen is open until 8 p.m. but you can enjoy the late night menu until midnight. You can also order Jello shots and there will be a champagne toast at midnight. Ring-a-ding, ding.
  • 10 p.m. – until: Get together at Neville’s Club and enjoy live music and drinks. Beer excited for 2024.

AND TO BEGIN 2024:

  • 8 a.m. to noon.: Wake up with mimosas and a breakfast buffet at Pinecrest Inn. No reservation required. Start the new year off on the right foot.
  • 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.: Join park rangers through a series of guided First Day Hikes through portions of Weymouth Woods, including a trek to see the oldest known living longleaf pine in the world. Such a tree-t.
  • 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Celebrate the new year and National Bloody Mary day at Elliotts on Linden. Enjoy their special brunch menu and boozy hot chocolate. Hello, 2024.
