Meet the Business Bunch: Businesses in Moore County
Union Pines High School sweethearts Scott and Kasi Caddell have spent the past 29 years together, raising four kids and building three businesses in Moore County along the way. Their oldest child has now opened a business of her own.
The way they became the Business Bunch: A second-generation plumber, Scott took over Vass-based Caddell Plumbing in 2001. Fifteen years later, Kasi joined friend Mollie Jolly in ownership of Crossroads Coffee Company in Vass. Aaaaand in August 2021, Scott and Kasi invested in what they call their retirement plan when they took over Edward’s Hardware and renamed it Vass Hardware and Mercantile.
“I think it’s every old man’s dream to sit in a rocking chair in front of the hardware store, telling stories all day,” Kasi says, but quickly adds, “we may be open to other ventures if the opportunity arises.”
The couple has been investing in businesses in Moore County and especially Vass while investing in their kids AmyMadison, Garrett B, Greer and Elise — including helping AmyMadison open Bronde Salon & Extension Bar, which she owns with friend Kaylee Thomas in a 100-year-old downtown Vass building that once housed a hardware store.
So, how does this bunch do it? They’ll tell you it’s by staying focused on what’s important. As Scott says, “family has been our biggest success.”
