Bibbidi Bobbidi Buy

Once Upon a Child, a business that pays cash for gently used baby gear and kids’ clothing and and re-sells them to the public, is starting the Southern Pines chapter of its fairy tale at 180 Commerce Ave.

Franchisee Tatiana Cooke, who works as a remote IT specialist, fell in love with the brand 10 years ago. When the military brought her family to Moore County in 2019, she applied for a franchise but was told the market wouldn’t support it. Last March, the company granted her wish.

“It’s a self-sustained franchise,” Tatiana says. “I’m not waiting for shipments of goods or for food delivery. It’s by the community, for the community.”

The 4,000-square-foot store could be open this spring. Soon, Tatiana will be ready to start buying items from the community and building up a small stock of new items, too.
