Porshia Hernandez has built an online boutique with brands that have a commitment to fair trade and sustainability. Now, she’s opening a new shop in the Belvedere Plaza in downtown Southern Pines.

“The online small shopping community is huge,” she says, “and I’ll always honor the online community because I would not be here if it was not for them. But it’s been a passion for a long time to have a physical boutique that represents everything I love and care about.”

Porshia has stocked Five Suns Boutique — named in honor of her five children — with sustainably made clothing for kids and adults, goods created from recycled materials, and items sourced from Black- and minority-owned businesses.

“I’m passionate about supporting healthy manufacturing, and carrying brands that source high-quality fabrics which can be passed down or resold,” she says. Browse some of those brands here — or browse Five Suns Boutique on Instagram.

The shop is at 128 West Pennsylvania Ave., Southern Pines.
