If you think of Pinehurst Resort as a fancy foreign country where golf comes second only to hedge fund management, it’s time to reconsider. The Saturday night finale of this weekend’s Chef & Maker Series at the Carolina Hotel — featuring a four-course dinner prepared by guest chef Katie Button — was definitely just for grown-ups, but adventurous enough for the squeamish little kid in all of us.
Between raw trout, squid complete with tentacles and rabbit accompanied by Shishito peppers, each unpronounceable Spanish dish kept the taste buds guessing. All without the literal two-month wait for a table at Button’s Asheville tapas bar Cúrate.
A glass (or three) of wine or sherry paired with each course sealed the deal. And made it easy to pretend that we were on vacation just a few miles from home.
Did you miss out? Don’t make that mistake again; add the Resort’s upcoming dining events to your calendar.
