Get caught sippin’. Downtown Aberdeen now has a social district.
What’s a social district, you ask? It’s a designated area in which you can stroll and shop while sipping bevvies purchased in a participating bar or restaurant. You’ll now see signage letting you know where drinking is allowed, during approved days and times: Thursday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday 1-9 p.m.

🐟 It’s of-fish-al, Vass is getting a seafood spot. After listening to community requests and thinking about what the area needed more of, Roast restaurant owner Matt Delle decided to open his own seafood house. Named, “Coast,” Matt aims to make it a family style, casual environment. Coast will take over the building that was formerly Homegrown on US-1 Business in Vass. 🐟 Matt is casting his net for a May opening.

A new indoor food hall is coming to Aberdeen. No, not that one. This one will be located behind Planet Fitness at 155 Atrium St. and is a product of NDB Commercial Real Estate, based out of Raleigh. The name is still in the works (“food rodeo” is clearly a placeholder) but it could be called “The Atrium,” since Atrium Street runs next to it. NDB shared some AI- generated preliminary renderings of what the space could look like.
The hall will be about 20,000 square feet with a bar (potentially two) and a handful of food vendors. Talks are in the works with local businesses. Plans include outdoor seating, a dog area and playground. There could even be an area for live music.

ICYMI: Downtown Aberdeen’s glow-up is set to continue with the renovation of a long-vacant corner at W. Main and S. Sycamore streets. Lindy and Ryan Lamielle acquired 103, 105 and 109 W. Main St. in September.
The corner building, 103 W. Main St., is divided into two storefronts, both of which are listed by Holly Bell at Carolina Summit Group. The others need significant improvements, Lindy says. 103 and 105 Main St. was likely built between 1902-1912 according to Aberdeen Mayor, Robbie Farrell.
There are currently no plans for the spaces but work is underway to restore the storefronts to better condition for future tenants.
